There are plans to develop Swindon as a hub for the design and building of military drones. Come and find out about the dreadful consequences of military drone manufacture.

The organisers say,

Drone Wars’ Peter Burt is coming to talk in Swindon on June  9th at 7pm in the Bakers Cafe, Emlyn Square, Swindon in opposition of the plans to designate the town into a drone manufacturing hub.

Drones are increasingly used in conflicts around the world where there is limited transparency, accountability, or public scrutiny. These technologies have already been linked to civilian deaths, surveillance and devastating humanitarian consequences.

Once profit, political interests, and economic incentives become tied to military production, ethical oversight often becomes secondary. Without strict safeguards, technologies developed here in Swindon could ultimately contribute to human suffering and potentially even atrocities against civilian populations abroad.

No economic opportunity or regeneration project is worth innocent human lives. Swindon deserves investment in industries that improve and protect human life, not industries associated with modern warfare and destruction.”
