Counter Terror Expo (CTX) brings together arms companies, surveillance equipment manufacturers, database vendors, spies, cops and military officials. A key focus of discussions is the PREVENT initiative which has been used to database and harass community and campaign groups and racialised minorities.
They say about themselves:
“CTX unites professionals from industry, infrastructure, government and policing to explore the latest counter-terrorism technologies and solutions. The event allows the development of new ideas and strategies to combat the latest threats facing the UK and its international partners.”
London CAAT and others are organising a protest against CTX 2024 and say,
“London CAAT is against the expansion of anti-democratic surveillance laws which are often used to repress dissent and freedom of expression.
We demand the immediate closure of the Counter Terror Expo! Excel at Peace Not Terror!”
