DPRTE 2021

Defence & Procurement, Research & Technology, Exportability

Last updated 8 October 2021

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, DPRTE 2021 had a “hybrid format” – taking place live in Farnborough and also being partly streamed online. IN 2020, DPRTE was online-only.

What they say

“DPRTE is the UK’s leading annual defence procurement and supply chain event, providing both buyers and suppliers of all sizes, with a unique opportunity to engage across a host of interactive and educational features, covering a range of topics such as innovation, technology, exporting and market engagement.” (BIP Solutions)

Protest

Greater Rushmoor Action for Peace held a demonstration and vigil at DPRTE 2021.

In 2019, DPRTE took place behind military wire in Farnborough having been chased out of Birmingham and Cardiff by protests. Read about campaigning against DPRTE in 2019.

Arms exports

The UK’s arms sales unit (Defence & Security Exports, previously DSO) has a strong presence at DPRTE. In 2017 it reported “The DIT DSO exhibition stand, staffed by members of the DIT DSO Small Business Unit, Events Team and Military Export Support Team, received a constant stream of enquiries from UK companies. Many of which were considering military and security markets as an outlet for overseas trade for the first time.”

In 2020, the organisers stated that “The Export and Business Growth Pavilion, supported by DIT DSO, will allow delegates to meet with representatives from some of the largest overseas defence markets, with a view to exporting products or services.”
