Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC)

EDIC “was established in 2014 from the integration of defense assets of Tawazun Holding, Mubadala Development Company, and Emirates Advanced Investments Group.” (US-UAE Business Council)

At the time of writing its website lists 16 subsidiaries, most of which had their own history before being grouped together in EDIC. Subsidiaries include: Caracal which manufactures small arms; CLA which manufactures small arms ammunition and Burkan which makes heavier munitions; Tawazun Dynamics which manufactures Precision Guided Munitions; NIMR, an armoured vehicles producer; and ADASI which manufactures drones.

NIMR exhibited at the DSEI 2017 arms fair in London. It states that it is “the leading military armoured vehicle manufacturer in the Middle East and North Africa region… NIMR medium and lightweight military vehicles are in service with Armed Forces across the MENA region”.
