US-based Textron is listed by SIPRI as being the world’s 15th largest arms company, with military equipment comprising 35% of its sales.
Textron is organized into five businesses: “Bell Helicopter, Textron Aviation, Industrial, Textron Systems and Finance.”
Its military products include drones, helicopters, space systems, missiles, armoured vehicles and nuclear weapons. The company states that 12,000 of its Commando armoured vehicles have been delivered to 35 countries. It also claims that it “designed and/or built all of the U.S. Air Force’s operational inter-continental ballistic missile reentry vehicles to date” (company website, accessed 18.7.2017).
The Washington Post reported that Textron was the last US company to build cluster bombs, stopping only recently.
