Cobham was formerly a UK-headquartered company but was purchased by US private equity company Advent International in 2019. Cobham still has significant military electronics businesses, but it has sold various business units to other companies, including other private equity firms. In 2022, Cobham completed the acquisition of another UK arms company, Ultra Electronics. This followed a UK government inquiry into the national security implications of the sale, after which the government approved the deal, subject to certain conditions.
