Note: Esterline Technologies was acquired by TransDigm Group, which describes itself as “…a leading global producer, designer and supplier of highly engineered aerospace components, systems and subsystems for use on nearly all commercial and military aircraft in service today.” Esterline no longer appears to be a separate business unit within TransDigm.

Its Avionics segment focused on “technology interface systems for commercial and military aircraft and similar devices for land- and sea-based military vehicles, cockpit displays and integration systems, flight training and simulation equipment, secure communications system”

The company stated that it was “the producer of the largest and most varied line of combustible ordnance and countermeasure products in the world”. It was a major manufacturer of flares to protect combat aircraft from heat-seeking missiles. It also manufactured a variety of ammunition, including its MACS system: “155mm Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS)”
