GKN

GKN has “three divisions: GKN Aerospace, GKN Driveline and GKN Powder Metallurgy” (company website).

Its Aerospace division “supplies products and services to a wide range of commercial and military aircraft and engine prime contractors” (company website). It is in the world’s top 100 arms producers (SIPRI) and in 2013 it stated that its military aircraft activity was worth “over £600m annually” (company website). GKN’s website lists a large number of military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters as “markets”.

In 2015 GKN bought Fokker Technologies and in mid-2016 this subsidiary was selected to maintain and service the landing gear on the Lockheed F-35 fleet in Europe and the Pacific (company website). However its involvement in the manufacture of the F-35 predates the purchase of Fokker.
