Ask your local branch to support a shadow Defence Diversification Agency

At its September 2017 conference, the Trades Union Congress passed a motionĀ calling on the Labour Party to set up a shadow Defence Diversification Agency (DDA). It is now vitally important to make sure Labour’s frontbench team knows acting on this is a priority for members. If you are a Labour Party member, ask your Constituency Labour Party to pass a motion on the shadow Defence Diversification Agency (DDA).

Download theĀ  template motion.

For any help, or to let us know if your CLP has passed the motion, please contact Parliamentary Co-ordinator Ann Feltham at parliamentary@caat.org.uk.

Amplify the impact of your motion by:

  • Letting the Labour Party centrally know the motion has been passed, including Shadow Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Secretary Ed Miliband.
  • Posting the motion on Labour’s Economy, Business and Trade Policy Commission site.

You can also contact CAATĀ outreach@caat.org.uk to arrange a speakerĀ for your CLP.

Jobs and the economy

The UK government justifies its support for the arms trade by arguing that it needs to protect jobs. In reality the economic importance of the industry is often overstated, and reallocating these resources could create more and better jobs and contribute to a safer world. Ā

Arms to renewables

Shift priorities from Arms to Renewables to create better jobs: jobs in an industry which is growing not declining, and which create a safer, rather than a more dangerous, world.

CAAT would not exist without its supporters. Each new supporter helps us strengthen our call for an end to the international arms trade.
