Edinburgh CAAT take action at ADS Reception in Holyrood

Edinburgh CAAT and other groups took action outside the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 21st February 2024 after a report in the Ferret revealed that the ADS Group had organised a reception within Holyrood. This event was also sponsored by French arms company Thales and Scottish Labour MSP Paul Sweeney who shortly pulled out of supporting the event after pressure from the public and press.

While arms dealers from BAE Systems, Leonardo and Thales were hoping for an evening cosying up to MSPs, instead they were faced with nearly 100 activists from across Scotland outside the Parliament building in grim reaper costumes with an endless list of names of those who suffered and died while those companies line their pockets with profit margins.

Members of Edinburgh CAAT had written to MSPs and the Presiding Officer demanding the reception be cancelled. The demonstration also came with the call for an end to the funding streams for arms companies through Scottish Enterprise and for robust policies to be implemented to ensure that not a single penny from the Scottish taxpayer is handed to warmongers again.

CAAT has just launched a new action calling on the First Minister, Humza Yousaf, and the Minister for Small Business, Trade and Innovation, Richard Lochhead, to stop funding repression. Take action now via this link.
